Garmin Nuvi 3790t Map's Naming Convention

To update maps for your garmin, we need to understand the file structure.

Device Memory.

The maps  installed in your device will be in .System folder. This folder are hidden, unhide.. look here

The maps file are with .img extension and usually the files listed as below.

                gmapprom.img – factory preloaded map.

                gmapprom1.img – another preloaded map (if any)

                gmapsupp.img – supplementary maps ( i.e. loaded from mapsource)

                gmapprom.unl – unlock code for gmapprom.img

                gmapprom1.unl – unlock code for gmapprom1.img

                gmapsupp.unl – unlock code for gmapsupp.img

               

                gmap3d.img – 3D Buildings map

                gmap3d1.img – Secondary 3D Buildings map

               

                gmapbmap.img – garmin basemap

                gmaptz.img – Garmin time zone map

                gmapoem.img – OEM mapset

so if you want to add new maps to device memory use one of them.

The junction view file will be in  .System/JCV folder.

SD Card

Map on SD card must be placed inside Map folder.

Interestingly the name can be any name i.e. Gcc2010.img

You can install as many maps as possible as long as it not exceed your SD card size and each map not exceed 4GB.

The junction view file will be in  garmin/JCV/ folder.

Jail Breaking The PS3 - KMEAW 3.55

 

A few custom firmware available for PS3 jailbreak, to name a few kmeaw, waninkoko, kakaroro, Wutangrza, PS3ITA, Geohot etc etc.

 

I chose kmeaw due to its popularity and support. Back up your PS3, copy all necessary files if any.

 

STEP 1 - Kmeaw Custom Firmware (CFW)

Alright.  Forget all this Gehot CFW and Wawawawaka whatever.  What you want is Kmeaw CFW.  Plenty of people have been using it and I haven't seen anything about bricks.  Here's what you do (tested first hand)

If you're on Official Firmware 3.55 already skip to step 4

 Before you start, Download this files:

Sony's Official FW 3.55 HERE

Latest Kmeaw CFW 3.55 from HERE

Get letest File manager, multiMAN HERE

Bluray emulator from HERE for testing only (if misuses, you will be a pirates)

1. Put Sony Official FW onto a USB drive in the folder x:\PS3\UPDATE\  Caps ARE needed.

2. Boot your PS3 into the recovery menu.
     a. With your PS3 off, press and hold the power button, keep holding until it turns on then off again.  Release
     b. Press and hold the power button again until you hear one, then two beeps.  Release.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions, Select system update. Turn off your PS3.

4. Put the CFW update of a USB drive in the folder x:\PS3\UPDATE  Again, caps are mandatory!

5. Repeat Step 2 and 3.


STEP 2 – INSTALLING the Manager - multiMAN

 

1. Unrar all files in your USB drive root directory.

 

2. Attach your USB to PS3, navigate to Games menu, look for installed package and select i.e. multiMAN ver 1.16.08 BASE (20110310_150000).pkg

 

There will be an error message "Multiman Cannot enable BD-ROM emulator. Functionality may be restricted" then

 

3. Put Bluray emulator and put it in USB root directory ( you are pirate now!)

 

4. Attach your USB to PS3, navigate to Games menu, look for installed package and select i.e. BDEMU-355KM.pkg

 

Now you can use multiMan and all kinds of homebrew on CFW. 

Make sure you keep up with what's on the front page. 

The managers get updated frequently and you can learn about that there.

STEP 3 – INSTALLING GAMES

- When you put any of your Bluray Disc, you always can make a backup in your PS3 internal HDD within multiMAN.
- You also can copy game folder from your friend ext HDD (copy all folder name ie BLUS01059) and locate to PS3 int disk folder hdd_00/GAMES/ or ext/usb disk x:/GAMES/ folder.
 - FAT32 need the files to be manually copy at not exceed 4GB batch. If you know how to split and combine even better.

-You can use ftp from your PC to your PS3 i.e. filezilla, what u need to do is, install ftp.pkg from blackbox. Run multiman. In fFilezilla put PS3 IP address, port 21, no password or login name.

Configuring Etisalat's Siemens Gigaset SE568 over fibre network

I have my old Etisalat Siemens  Gigaset SE568, i want to use it for new Etisalat triple play account, for a wireless network of course... Unluckily (really?) it now run over fiber optic network. This modem wont work unless you do the following: - 

Updating the Modem
Update the firmware. Get the firmware here
Plug the SE568 to you PC with Ethernet cable,
Run browser, type 192.168.254.254
Login as "admin" with your password, default password "admin"
Click reboot icon and choose restore to "factory default", (if you cant login you can use reset button, press and hold for 10secs) close the browser.


Run the software. Wait for the flashing process complete around 3-4minutes
Now your SE568 was updated to SpeedStream 6500
note:- 
I tried with Window Vista, it did not work and it OK with Win XP.

Configuring WAN
Connect SE568 modem to your PC with Ethernet cable.

Connect to Etisalat Optical Network unit port, LAN1 to SE568's WAN port with Ethernet cable
Run browser, type 192.168.254.254
Login as "admin" with default password "admin"
run the wizard for the first time and put everything i.e. admin login password, wireless name and password, etc. etc.

Click on Home Network button and click Advance setting.

Click Configure gateway LAN/WAN Port

Select WAN and click next

Enter Username and password for your Etisalat account

Select one of the above option, i choose that because mine was unlimited.

Left blank, click next

Select NAPT and click finish

This is how it look like, it says DOWN but the colour is green and work just fine!

Update #1 Some report that the connection will be exprience disconnecting problem.. to resolve that change the IP from 192.168.254.254 to 192.168.1.1

go to Home network from left menu

advanced setting

Configure the Local SpeedStream Gateway IP Network

change ip adress to 192.168.1.1

Still not working?
Check all cable are connected i.e. from Fibre to Etisalat Optical Network Unit (ONU)
Make sure Ethernet cable from ONU connected to WAN port on your SE568 Modem
ONU LAN1 to SE568 Modem, LAN2 to your IPTV box.
